Whether you are on holiday in Calahonda or live here – there are numerous bars you can choose from to have a drink in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. El Zoco is a commercial centre in the urbanisation and probably the best place to go as most services and facilities in Calahonda can be found here.  The commercial centre is dotted with bars and cafeterias which invite you to have a refreshing drink, a snack or a proper meal. Definitely a must-visit is the top terrace where the popular Trafalgar’s pub is located. Here you can enjoy a refreshing beer or sip on a tropical cocktail. The bar is relatively big and has a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. A terrace is also available and ideal for you to read a book or enjoy the sun. Alternatively one could also go for a walk along the “Strip” – a street that leads up the hill behind the El Zoco centre – where you will also find a number of bars. Most bars and restaurants located in this area are English-owned which makes it a lot easier for those who do not speak Spanish. Prices are reasonable and menus are often based on English dishes. Welcome Inn:
 The Welcome Inn should not be missed after a long night out. Those who haven’t even been to bed yet can go there to enjoy a tasty breakfast before collapsing in the bed or on the beach. The bar is open all day and does not only serve breakfast but also other meals, not forgetting the delicious fruit pies. If there is a sports event you do not want to miss, the Welcome Inn is the best place to go. The Red Lion:  When visiting the Red Lion you will hardly realise that you are in Spain. This English style pub features a large television screen on which customers can watch football games. The screens are also used in the evenings and at night when music and videos are played. The Red Lion is serving all types of drinks and is normally visited by expatriates. El Bolero:  The El Bolero is probably one of the best bars to go when out with lots of friends. It has a mini bowling alley which is great fun – especially when playing drinking games!! Habana:  If you are looking for a stylish yet welcoming and cosy place in which you can enjoy a beer or wine, the Habana is the ideal choice. This bar is not only for the younger generations but also for older people who want to try the variety of cocktails on offer. The only downside of the bar is the always present parking problem, so if you can – walk there or take a taxi! Gauguin:  This very special and unique bar is great for those who like to enjoy a cocktail while listening to live music or looking at art. With its pink walls, the aluminium stools and the numerous paintings that decorate the room, the Gauguin is already worth a visit just because of its looks. Frank’s Corner:  Frank’s Corner is mainly a bar for younger customers as it serves numerous beers from around the globe. It is especially popular with holiday makers and provides a terrace as well as two bars. Inside the pub you will find a pool table, darts and pinball for your entertainment. Trafalgar Pub:  As mentioned earlier, the Trafalgar pub is located in the El Zoco commercial centre. It is a great place to have a few drinks before hitting the road to find a club or discotheque. |
